Issue 10! How did that happen?!?

Come celebrate our new issues with our friends at Queercircle in North Greenwich, London. We’ll have readings from some of our Issue 10 poets: Sk Grout, Michael McKimm, Jaime Lock, Lara Mae Simpson and David McGovern and we’ll celebrate with a glass of wine/beer/pop.

Georgie Henley launches her debut pamphlet Amphibian

Come join us at The Pelican in Peckham, London to hear Georgie Henley read from her debut poetry pamphlet Amphibian.

We’ll be celebrating the poems, as well as hearing Georgie read and talk about her work.

And because we always like to make a night of it, we’ll also be featuring readings from Alice Frecknall and Joanna Nissel, both of which have also been published in the fourteen poems anthologies.

Dior J. Stephens is a Midwestern, USA pisces and poet. He is the author of the chapbooks SCREAMS & lavender, 001, and CANNON!. Their debut full-length collection, CRUEL/CRUEL, will be released by Nightboat Books in March 2023. Dior holds an MFA in Creative Writing from California College of the Arts and is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Philosophy at the University of Cincinnati. Dior hopes to be a dolphin in his next life. Dior’s preferred pronouns are he/they.

Jinhao Xie on 'Gabriel in the pose of pregnant Virgin'

Jinhao Xie, born in Chengdu, is a Barbican Young Poet and a member of the Southbank Centre New Poets Collective 2021–2022. They are interested in nature, the mundane, the interpersonal, and personhood. Most of their work is inspired by visual and conceptual art, and can be found in POETRY, Poetry Review, Harana, bath magg, Gutter Magazine, and anthologies, including Slam! You’re Gonna Wanna Hear This edited by Nikita Gill, Instagram Poems for Every Day by the National Poetry Library, Re.Creation (Stewed Books, 2022), and Articulation to Keep the Light In (Flipped Eye, 2022). Their love language is an act of service in forms of cooking for the beloved and quality time with meaningful conversations.

Seán Hewitt talks Immram

Join us to hear award winning poet, author and critic Seán Hewitt read Immram, his poem from Issue 9 of fourteen poems. Seán will discuss the poem and his work in general and read a second poem. We’ll also hear a favourite poem from another writer.

Seán Hewitt is a poet, writer and critic based in Dublin, Ireland where he teaches Modern British & Irish Literature at Trinity College. His debut collection, Tongues of Fire (Jonathan Cape, 2020), was shortlisted for The Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award in 2021, and won The Laurel Prize in 2021. His critically acclaimed memoir, All Down Darkness Wide (Jonathan Cape), was released in 2022, and shortlisted for Biography of the Year at the Irish Book Awards. He was awarded The Rooney Prize for Irish Literature in 2022.

Ellora Sutton London launch

Can’t wait to celebrate the release of Ellora Sutton’s antonyms for burial in London on the 29th November.

We’ll be launching the book with Ellora reading some of her poems at Tenderbooks in London’s Soho at 6pm.

Plus, we’ll have some of our anthology poets attending and reading too: Jack Cooper, Serge Neptune and Erica Gillingham.

We can’t wait to be back in Edinburgh for the launch of Thomas Stewart’s poetry pamphlet Based on a True Story, published 14th November.

Tenderchats: Tenderbooks and Remi Graves

On Wednesday 9 November at 1pm Uk time, Remi Graves will be talking to Dal Chodha from London bookshop Tenderbooks for TenderChats, an ongoing series of live conversations on Instagram.

’with your chest’, Remi’s collection of poems published by fourteen poems, considers race, gender, childhood and relationships. A former Barbican Young Poet, Remi’s work has been featured on BBC Radio 4 and at St Paul’s Cathedral. Recent commissions include ‘don’t text me, i’m dreaming’ for Apples and Snakes and ‘On Breathing’ for Barbican Centre. Remi has taught courses at The Poetry School and delivers workshops in schools and libraries across London and UK. Remi was a 2017 National Poetry Day Ambassador and has performed at Cheltenham Literature Festival, Tate Modern and more.

TenderChats is an ongoing series of 30-minute musings on the magic and permanence of printed matter. A twice-monthly series of live conversations will be hosted by writer and publisher Dal Chodha on Instagram TV @tenderbooks.
